Home decorating, house renovations, remodeling and basic maintenance and repairs in the home have always been an interest to me.

I was fortunate to learn the basics of construction, painting, electrical, plumbing, outdoor yard work and landscaping in my early years of work experience and enjoy constantly upgrading my home, inside and out.

The value of the Internet and being a website manager has drawn me to the computer and given me focus for earning revenue however, I still require daily hands-on projects to balance my daily schedule.

Many of the articles give ideas that are only my perspective and opinion so check around before deciding on exactly what you are trying to achieve with any of the home decor, furnishing, remodeling or home improvement projects you are looking to achieve.

Before doing any project, be sure to find out what tools and materials are required. Anyone who has attempted to do anything at all will agree that you must have the right tools to do the job. If you are working on something that you will only do once or twice, you can either borrow or rent tools. Many of the local hardware stores rent equipment as well as sell them. Obviously, if you expect to have numerous projects using the same tools it is advantageous to purchase the required tools, and be sure they are good quality. Many of the aftermarket brands on sale these days are not quality made and will not last.

Whether you are working with construction materials, wallpaper, furniture, curtains or blinds, remember the most important carpenter’s rule: ‘Measure twice – Cut once’. There have been many times that I have marked the wrong side of a board, cut the wrong end of a panel, or forgot about the pattern when working on projects. Take a minute to review in your mind before making the cut, you will save a lot of time, energy and material over the years.
