Valance curtains can hide your curtain hardware and dress up your windows

A valance is a fixture at the top of your window that hides the rods and other hardware. The valance curtains tops are usually hidden behind it as well. Some curtain sets come with a matching valance curtains that act in the same way as the permanent valance fixtures over some windows. They are attached to a rod that extends to cover all of the other hardware and window top. This type is commonly used in a kitchen with the bottom half being covered with matching curtains. This lets the sun sine in while still providing some privacy. This window treatment adds a nice frilly look to the window of many kitchens and bedrooms. It may also be a very formal straight small curtain for a room like a living room or dining room.

Using valance curtains can add a nice finished look to your window treatments and help to hide the hardware used to support the curtains. This is a bonus if you have drapes with many layers and the hardware is extensive. A valance effect will help to hide the necessary hardware and add something interesting to your window décor. A textile one can provide an opportunity to add a contrasting color to your window treatments.

Have a look at your windows and see if adding valance curtains might be a decorating idea you can make use of. You will be able to find a selection of the products available to you by shopping in the many online stores the Internet gives you access to.
