Why do you need a clock? |
|
April 23, 2003 By: Ellen Simpson Why do you need a clock? One of the basic items that western society has in their homes, is a clock. It can be a focal point of a room, or just a small reminder of what time it is. It can be created into a peace of art, such as the carved wooded beauty of an antique grandfather clock. It also can be simple and practical, and comes in almost every size. It can be built into ovens, coffee makers, microwaves, and many other basic household items. The clock is necessary for many of today’s daily activities. The alarm feature that many clocks have is what millions of people rely on to wake up for work, or school. It also can be used as a timer, or to just simply tell the time. Without this item, important events could be missed. An unaware person can easily loose track of the time and miss a number of engagements. In working environments it is instrumental to the success of a business. Every business has deadlines and meetings that need to be planned using time. The clock is really what holds our society together. It gives people the freedom to plan their lives and the ability to stick to what they have planned. It is one of the most developed and modernized inventions in human history. It started as a sundial and grew to pocket watches and house clocks. In the last century it developed even more with the invention of digital clocks. Clocks are extremely important to how people live their lives. With out them the world would be very different.
