FloWise™ is First One-Flush High-Efficiency Toilet

FloWise™ is the first gravity toilet to reduce water usage by more than 20 percent using familiar one-flush performance with a standard trip lever.

FloWise uses 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf), so it qualifies as a “high-efficiency toilet” or HET. HETs lower utility bills, reduce strain on septic systems, and are eligible for special rebates in many drought-prone areas. Until now, only dual-flush or pressure assist models were capable of delivering the 20 percent water savings.

FloWise can deliver high-efficiency clog-free performance on a regular gravity-fed toilet because it uses American Standard’s proprietary Champion® flushing technology. A patented Flush Tower™ and reengineered waterways enabled American Standard engineers to reduce the amount of water used to 1.28 gpf, while maintaining a generous amount of water in the bowl. More water in the bowl makes it easier to keep clean, even when less water is used for flushing.

HET is a relatively new term defined as toilets that use 20 percent less water than low-consumption 1.6 gpf toilets. As more municipalities worry about meeting the water needs of their residents, plumbing manufacturers are literally plunging the depths of their engineering know-how to create more efficient toilets.

“This is a major focus for our engineering team at American Standard,” said Ashish Kulkarni, vice president of engineering. “Research repeatedly shows that homeowners will choose water-saving and other ecologically sound products if they perform and if they are priced competitively.

“But the water savings won’t happen if consumers perceive a tradeoff in terms of clogging and bowl cleaning,” Kulkarni said.

FloWise actually outperforms the flushing of some well-known 1.6 gpf brands. Champion’s Flush Tower releases 1.28 gallons of water in less than a second. Even if the handle is held down, the Flush Tower shuts off after the water has been released, delivering a precise non-adjustable flush. The Flush Tower’s silicone rubber seal replaces rubber flappers which can degrade and leak over time.

As with other Champion toilets, FloWise is backed by an unmatched 10-year warranty, inside and out.

Style Counts

FloWise is a transitional style toilet designed to complement a wide variety of existing bathroom décor choices. A desirable fitted lid completes the refined elegant style of the two-piece, elongated design. “High efficiency toilets still need to deliver high-style,” noted James Walsh, American Standard’s product director for toilets. “Homeowners want their toilets to blend comfortably into the surroundings.”

FloWise is available in White with a suggested retail price of $395. For more information, please call (800) 899-2614 or visit www.americanstandard-us.com.
