DECORATIVE WALLPAPER BORDER PRODUCTS ARE MORE THAN JUST ACCENTS
Imperial Home Decor Group (IHDG), the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of residential wallcoverings and wallpaper border, is seizing the consumer trend for decorative products by unveiling two innovative, easy-to-use lines – Instant Stencils™ and The Big Look Borders™ – at the National Hardware Show.
“We know that consumers consider wallpaper borders and stencils as two of the top three leading-edge decorative products,” explains Jim Holthus, vice president of marketing for IHDG. “We developed our Instant Stencils and The Big Look Borders lines to provide consumers with the same hot decorative looks, but in ways that require much less time and effort on their part.”
Hand-painted stencils without the paint Steady hands, artistic talents, time and even paint are no longer prerequisites for the gorgeous looks of hand-painted stencils. The innovative Instant Stencils™, available under the Sunworthy brand, is a line of multi-colored lithographs in a variety of popular looks, such as floral motifs and mystical designs, that can be “rubbed-on” nearly any surface in three easy steps. Simply position, rub and peel the designs. A special seam roller tool “rubs” the design onto nearly any designated surface – glass, ceramic tile, wood, furniture, and more. The designs are then peeled from the acetate sheet backing, leaving a hand-painted look without the mess and hassle of ordinary stencils.
A whole-room, custom look can be easily achieved with the line’s 10 coordinated style groupings in a variety of sizes that each include: two strip designs in 2-inch, 4-inch or 5.25-inch height, as well as three-packs of one small accessory and a single-pack of one large accessory. Also available are ten freestanding designs in various sizes.
The Instant Stencils line is priced at suggested retail from $6.99 to $11.99. The line will be available in early 2001 to home centers, paint and wallpaper retailers, and specialty stores nationwide.
Big borders come out of hiding
What were once used as decorative accents are now making their way as viable, stand-alone design statements. Up until now large (more than 13.5-inch height) wallpaper borders were tucked away in wallpaper books. But, as the trend for these big borders became more popular, consumers began demanding quicker and easier ways to find these decorative options. Now, these popular looks can be found at-a-glance with IHDG’s new The Big Look Borders™ line, a color-coded, peggable packaging program.
Set to launch at the National Hardware Show, the line consists of 22 designs in three of the most popular categories: kitchen, kids and scenics. Kitchen features traditional motifs, including florals, fruits and marketplace scenes, in 13.5-inch height borders. There’s even a whimsical rooster border from artist Tracy Porter. Kids highlights some of today’s hottest licensed characters, such as Pooh, Rugrats and the new Disney Dinosaur, in 20.5-inch height borders. Scenics showcases beautiful images of seascapes and landscapes, including popular nautical themes from renowned artist David Carter Brown, in 27-inch height borders.
Retail pricing is $9.99 for Kitchen, $12.99 for Kids and $14.99 for Scenics. The line is available in home centers and specialty retailers. Imperial Home Decor Group is the world’s largest designer, manufacturer and distributor of residential wallcovering products. IHDG also markets commercial wallcoverings and is a premiere supplier of pool linings through the Vernon Plastics operating division.
Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, IHDG supplies home centers, national chains, independent dealers, mass merchants, design showrooms and specialty shops. Product lines include the Imperial, Katzenbach & Warren, Albert Van Luit, Sterling Prints, Imperial Fine Interiors, Sunworthy and Colorfields by Sunworthy brand names.
