A COLLECTION OF VERSATILE PAINTABLE TEXTURED WALLCOVERINGS THAT ADD A NEW DIMENSION TO WALLS

Get the Rich Look of Plaster without the Work or Expense

Imperial Home Decor Group (IHDG), one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of wallcoverings, brings yet another innovative collection to the textured wallcoverings category: Anaglypta. These sophisticated lines of paintable textured vinyl papers and borders combine classic style with modern appeal offering a distinct range of embossed designs on a variety of substrates.

“Anaglypta is known for its unsurpassed durability and incomparable style,” said Carolyn Resar, vice president of marketing and design for IHDG. “With this unique wallcovering collection consumers can customize a wall simply by leaving it white or painting it with a single color. There’s also the option to personalize with a decorative technique such as dry brushing, finger painting or highlighting the relief, which enhances the design. By applying a faux finish technique on this product, the consumer creates a look of depth, texture and sophistication. Best of all, these papers are easy to hang and can simply be repainted again and again to change the look of a room.”

Derived from two Greek words, ana meaning ‘raised up’ and glyptos meaning ‘engraving’, Anaglypta was developed in 1887 as a lightweight yet durable alternative to Lincrusta, a similar, linoleum type of embossed wallcovering. The weight, flexibility, and low-cost of Anaglypta made it popular among the masses who could now achieve the same look as the wealthy upper-classes who were so fond of Lincrusta. After its debut, Anaglypta was immediately recognized as a superior product by the decorating and finishing trade.

First introduced in the United States by Imperial in the 1960s, this economical wallcovering has withstood the test of time. Anaglypta Original is great on walls and ceilings and comes in 19
subtly textured designs, several of which replicate the look of an old-fashioned, yet very striking tin ceiling. Dado Panels are 37” panels perfect for use under a chair rail and come in four distinct designs – Neo-Classical, Gothic, Oriental and Rococo.

“The Dado Panels are great for high traffic areas, like halls and stairways and like all the Anagylpta lines, they cover minor cracks and bumps,” said Resar. “The patterns are deeply-textured and will dramatically transform a room used alone or with another Anagypta wallcovering.”

The more contemporary line in the Anaglypta family is Wallwhites. The four pure white design themes – Modern Elements, Funky Prints, Eastern Inspirations and Modern Rustics are very fresh and add interest to a large area or create a dramatic feature wall. Wallwhites are also the ideal cover up for cracked walls or ceilings, textured walls or even concrete block. Wallwhites is a flatbacked product that is unpasted and easy to hang with any clear vinyl adhesive. The textured vinyl surface is durable and wipes clean, so maintenance is simple.

Lincrusta, the world’s most enduring wallcovering, is rich, deep and exquisitely detailed in the Anagylpta collection which includes 10 sidewalls, 3 dado panels, 7 friezes and 3 borders.
Built to last and look beautiful it actually becomes harder with age and is impervious to water when painted with oil-based paints.

Also part of the Anaglypta collection is the Armadillo line which offers a tough resistant surface in a non-woven substrate that allows you to paste the wall instead of the paper! Installation has never been easier.

“For anyone who has ever wanted to emulate carved wood and delicate plaster- work found in classic homes around the world, the Anaglypta collection will meet that purpose,” said Resar. “And the beauty of these wallcoverings goes beyond their attractiveness as they are proved to be extremely strong and longwearing.”

Imperial’s Anaglypta is available at select home centers, paint and wallpaper retailers and specialty stores nationwide. Consumers can call (800) 539-5399 or visit www.ihdg.com for more information.
